December 14, 2006 - The Rotary Centennial Walkway (West Buffalo Creek Walkway) along Westhill was jackhammered up after being opened to the public about a month ago. Numerous deviations from city specifications and ADA requirements were noted by Alden Nellis in a report to the City Council, Mayor, City Manager, TXDOT and the Department of Interior on November 17. See that report here.

The concrete and rebar from the 220 foot long walkway was being dumped into Buffalo Creek. After complaints, workers changed the dumped concrete into "riprap", an acceptable method of shoring up waterlines. Here's the sequence in pictures:

Concrete from the jackhammered walkway was dumped in Buffalo Creek

After complaints, the concrete was broken into smaller bits, rebar covered up, and made passable as riprap to shore up banks of creek

This Vodka bottle was found in the drain nearby. Apparently
workers had fun breaking up the concrete chunks.
