The Board will also provide copies of their response to the TEA investigation, which is due May 12. Dr. Beard was highly recommended by Stu Madison. “He is a candidate that the board identified early in the process, and was asked to apply for the position,” Madison said in a written statement. He continued “I’ve spoken to his former employer, his board members, his current administration, his principals, leaders in his community, and even four of his teachers. They all agree that if there is a rising star in Texas school administration, it’s Dr. Ronny Beard.” Dr. Beard has a Doctorate of Education from Baylor University (2003), a Masters of Education from Tarleton in 1990, a BS from Tarleton in 1973. He has been Superintendent at Sweetwater ISD from 2004 to present, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction at White Settlement ISD, Principal at Sudan High School, Principal at Bangs High School, Superintendent at Star ISD, and Principal at Mullin ISD, among other positions. While at Sweetwater, his resume states that he added $2.2 million othe fund balance while enrollment declined, saw large jumps in student achievement, improved Board/Superintendent relations and passed a $10 million bond. He initiated the "Real Deal" planning process for all campuses which focus effort on student achievement and eliminates non-essential programs and effort.
