CISD Board of Trustees

I am requesting that one or more of you have the question of Single Member Districts placed on the agenda for the regular board meeting in September (September 14). I request this item to be handled as a public hearing to allow open interchange between the public and the board.

I would like to see our next board election (May 2010) be a Single Member District election. To accomplish this we must begin preparation soon.

Early this year I sent Stu Madison an email requesting him to meet with me to discuss SMDs. He refused to meet with me and said he was opposed to SMDs.

I think we should proceed with this process as soon as possible to avoid expensive and time-consuming legal action. I do not know of any suit where the courts have ruled in favor of at-large elections. CISD would most likely lose in such legal proceeding.
