None from Access Cleburne Plan to File for School Board February 25, 2008 Alden Nellis said that to his knowledge none from the Access Cleburne group planned to file for any of the three school board positions up for election in May. Deadline for filing is March 10 at the CISD admin office at 505 N. Ridgeway. Three candidates have filed as of February 25: Lori Zachary, Place 6; Stu Madison, (current president), Place 2; and Brad Allen, Place 1. Nellis said "The school board has been making some right decisions lately. I am pleased by many actions and decisions taken by the three board members elected two years ago and by Board president Stu Madison." Nellis continued "The TEA report will be issued soon. That should encourage the school board to clean up the mess left by the administration and prior boards," Nellis said. "Of the existing board members, Brad Mead and Brad Allen (if elected) are the only board members left who were serving during the time frame covered by the TEA investigation." He said he thought Donna Boles made the right decision not to run again. In an email to Nellis February 22, TEA investigator Ramon Medina said "The preliminary report is nearly complete and I believe that once it is issued to the district and its constituents, everyone will understand the delay in the report's release." Nellis is past secretary of the Access Cleburne group and co-publisher of www.CleburnePolitics.com online news and commentary. Nellis said he was amused that Brad Allen filed. "It just shows
how self-serving some people are. Brad Allen resigned from the school
board just two days after being sworn into office last year so the district
could hire his brother." He continued "I hope several will file
so the voters will have a choice.”
